Interrelation between Socio-Economic and Environmental Impacts
The Global-Bio-Pact project identifies hotspots of conflicts and synergies between socio-economic and environmental impacts in developing countries.
Based on the assessment of existing studies and on the results of socio-economic impacts assessment, this task investigates the linkages between major environmental and identified socio-economic impacts of biofuel/bioproduct lifecycles. This reveals opportunities to minimise negative and optimise positive impacts on both the environment and socio-economic situations. Furthermore, positive and negative correlations between socio-economic and environmental impacts are investigated. Thereby, an important input for the recommendations on sustainability certification schemes is provided.
